Director of the theater “Ballet Moscow”, Co-Founder of the Centre of Dance and Performance TSEKH
Lately Moscow theatre life has become quite active. It concerns not only traditional theatrical forms, but also new directions, that have been mostly in the underground until recently. First of all we are talking about different genres of a non-verbal theater: contemporary dance, modern ballet, contemporary circus, performance. These genres have become an integral part of the Moscow theatre guide, they have taken a significant part in the repertoire of leading Moscow theaters, in programs of Moscow festivals and city events. They also have become an important part of the process of Moscow integration into the international cultural context.
Representatives of these genres willingly and productively work with directors, composers, playwriters, artists, and thereby bring new qualities into traditional genres, creating vivid interdisciplinary projects. Experience has shown that such projects attract lively attention of the Moscow audience.
Non-verbal theater is in constant development and continuous state of exploration and acts as a catalyst for innovation processes in a theater. It is already difficult to imagine the cultural landscape of the modern metropolis without modern dance, circus, and performance.
